Our Story - Tan Central - El Dorado Hills - Pollock Pines - Placerville - Cameron Park

Before my husband Blake & I purchased Tan Central we did a lot of research on what the benefits of tanning might be.

Here’s what we found out:

§   Indoor tanning was first established as a therapeutic means to obtain the psychological and physiological benefits of UV light exposure.
§  The practice of indoor tanning first became popular in northern Europe during the 1970s due to the positive effects of UV light exposure in sun-deprived regions.
§  Many use indoor tanning for cosmetic benefits and find it an ideal alternative to outdoor tanning. Indoor tanning is popular for the prevention of sunburns while reaping the benefits of UV light exposure at safe levels.
§  The primary benefit to indoor tanning is the process of UV light aiding the body in the production of vitamin D, which prevents health issues such as hypertension and depression
§  Indoor tanning can cause sunburn and skin irritation if time regulations are not followed. Beginning tanners must start out with short exposures varying from 5 to 7 minutes, and then build up to the standard 20 minutes on a regular bed. As with all UV light exposure, extreme care and caution must be taken to prevent skin damage (which comes from sunburn)

I, myself, was never able to tan (my natural color is very pasty white) until I started tanning indoors when we purchased the tanning salons.  I started at 2 minutes in a regular bed (20 minute max bed) and now I’m able to do 10 minutes in a super bed (15 minute max bed).  I tan 2-3 times a week to keep my color.  If I don’t have time to tan more than once a week I will use a tingle which gives the instant gratification of color and helps my tan to last longer.  I also have found that it is important to tan in the winter so I get my vitamin D.  This keeps me in a better mood and keeps my husband happy.  My husband also tans year round.
